Major Edward George Bootle-Wilbraham 3rd Baron Skelmersdale and later 2nd Earl Lathom, went to Eton and served in the Royal Horse Guards, being promoted to the rank of Major.
He was initiated into the Studholme Lodge No 1591, and later joined St George’s Lodge of Harmony No 32, and the Grand Master’s private Lodge the Royal Alpha Lodge No 16.
He was also a Commander RNVR and a JP for Lancashire.
